چکیده

Precast concrete components are basic element of modern construction industry. Their lifecycle involves many steps, in which the element's progress is usually tracked on paper. Similarly construction projects do not often have a formal information management process. Increased traceability and information management could address issues related to duplicated information management work, lack of real-time information, information delays and access issues. A study of how an information system can be integrated to the construction process and what kind of services can be implemented with the unique tracking of precast concrete elements is reported here. The tracking and data management is implemented with embedded RFID chips in each of the elements. The viability of building information modelling, traceability, management, gathering of quality management data and logistics location management services are shown to work with a series of pilot projects. The information system increases the amount and the detail of data, providing more tools for data management and reduces the amount of human errors involved in information management.

Tailing RFID Tags for Clone Detection

RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification) is a key emerging technology for supply-chain monitoring and detection of counterfeit and grey-market goods. The most prevalent RFID tags are, however, simply “wireless barcodes,” themselves vulnerable to cloning and counterfeiting. While continuous monitoring can, in principle, detect cloning attacks, real-world supply chains often contain significant blin...

Efficiency and Privacy Enhancement for a Track and Trace System of RFID-Based Supply Chains

One of the major applications of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is in supply chain management as it promises to provide real-time visibility based on the function of track and trace. However, such an RFID-based track and trace system raises new security and privacy challenges due to the restricted resource of tags. In this paper, we refine three privacy related models (i.e., t...

A Simulation Tool for Radio Frequency Identification Construction Supply Chains

Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology is being used more and more in the construction industry. RFID tags and peripheral equipment are becoming cheaper and more suitable for application in the supply chain. However, it is difficult for contractors to estimate the costs and benefits of using RFID technology in their production processes. Based on a case study and simulations, the aim ...

Reducing False Reads in RFID-Embedded Supply Chains

RFID tags are increasingly being used in supply chain applications due to their potential in engendering supply chain visibility and reducing tracking errors through instantaneous location of objects as well as the tagged object's immediate ambient conditions. During its life-time, an RFID tag is highly likely to physically pass through different organizations that have disparate information sy...

Evolving RFID Two main technological advances have made this explosion possible: the wider availability of very low-cost and higherrange passive RFID tags that require no battery to operate, and the use of the Internet to connect otherwise isolated RFID systems and software. The latter development, in particular, has allowed not only the integration of distinct RFID implementations but also, an...
